Summer is in full swing, but TechConnect keeps on rolling! After our regular mixing and mingling at the start of our meeting we had a great company presentation by Blaine Martin, Managing Partner at Clear Comms.
Clear Comms offers fiber optic cable installation, as well as inspection, cleaning, troubleshooting and verification of fiber optic cabling after installation. They also offer networking and Audio/Video services, and enhanced coverage services for cellular. An interesting fact that Blaine shared with us is that low energy tinted windows reflect cell phone signals. It is one of the reasons why cellular reception is poor in big brick and mortar buildings! If you need any of these services give them a call, they offer anyone in Georgia a free service or quote.
Drew Wilderman from Promethean World spoke to us about the North Fulton Partners in Education EXPO coming up September 7th from 9 am to 12 pm at the Alpharetta Family YMCA. About 60 North Fulton schools will exhibit and offer opportunities for partnerships to attending local businesses. Watch this video for highlights from the 2016 Partners in Education EXPO. For more information contact Katie Harding at firstname.lastname@example.org. Click here to register.
We also wanted to give a shout out to Lee Doernberg from Liquid Capital Funding. Lee has been an ambassador with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for 13 years! He has been diligently checking everyone in at our TechConnect networking meetings. Thank you for all you do Lee! Being an ambassador is one of the ways you can get involved with GNFCC and Tech400. Tech400 is currently looking for a Partner Liaison Chair, Partner Liaison Vice Chair, and an Innovation Vice Chair. Email John Mamon at email@example.com for more information.
Want to showcase your business and connect with the local tech community? Come join us at our next TechConnect on July 10th!
If you have not registered for our Tech Mixer yet, please don’t forget to do so! We would not want you to miss out on a fun networking evening with great music, great food, great peers, and some Pineapple Habanero Hop Dang Diggity or Southern Juice! It is this Thursday June 7th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Jekyll Brewing. You can register here.
Did you know that Jekyll Brewing is the first brewery located in Alpharetta, Georgia, and that the first brewery in the Deep South was founded on Jekyll Island in 1738? Did you know that, besides brewing award winning handcrafted beers, they also roast coffee? Adding coffee to their lineup was a natural progression for them. Most people start their day with coffee, and there are similarities between specialty coffee and craft beer. From how it is roasted, to how it is brewed, there are many opportunities to put a special mark on coffee as well!
Our monthly TechConnect networking meeting is also coming up. Mark your calendars for Tuesday June 12th at 7:30 am! During this meeting you will get the opportunity to introduce yourself and your company, connect with other members, and get valuable input from them on current opportunities and challenges you might have. As a quick reminder, TechConnect is the monthly networking meeting of Tech400, the technology chapter of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GNFCC). It is held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s offices, located at 11605 Haynes Bridge Road, Suite 100, in Alpharetta. The event is designed for technology companies and techies who find value in growing a network with industry peers. You can register for the meeting here.
We will be looking forward to having a Hop Dang Diggity with you this Thursday, and to see you at our networking meeting next Tuesday!
Mark your calendars for Tech400’s upcoming Tech Mixer June 7th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Jekyll Brewing! It will be a fun filled evening of food, some Hop Dang Diggity and live music where you’ll just get to hang out with your technology peers and friends. Our very own Chamber member Tom Hart will perform on acoustic guitar, while popular PHuD Truck by Rasheed will tickle your taste buds with some delicious BBQ! You can register here.
These days it is easy to just stay in your office and market your brand online, but don’t forget about the power of face-to-face marketing to create company and brand awareness. You are not only establishing a personal relationship with everyone you meet, but you also get to present yourself and your company. A tech mixer is the perfect opportunity to be resourceful. Not only to offer your own products or services, but to learn about products or services that could be beneficial to you or your company as well. And how refreshing will it be to get out of the office, after being behind a computer screen for eight hours straight, to enjoy some good food and drinks with your peers? Count me in!
If you got the jitters and you cannot wait to start tech mixing until June 7th, another great tech mixer to go to is Tech Alpharetta’s, scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday May 22nd from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at vLink Solutions new Alpharetta Studio. You can sign up here. Tech Alpharetta is one of the organizations the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce partners with. They are one of three tech incubators in the Atlanta area. Small businesses and tech startups can find a lot of value networking here. From weekly startup pitch sessions, to just bouncing ideas off fellow tech community members, to attending the networking events, there is definitely opportunity to market your brand.
We will be looking forward to tech mix with you on June 7th!
Let’s not just network together, but let’s also resource together was the theme throughout today’s TechConnect networking meeting, the monthly networking meeting from Tech400. Led by Ralph Pasquariello, and held every second Tuesday of the month, members and first-time attendees give each other valuable input on questions they have, and challenges they face.
With a focus on technology, the input is very targeted and useful for companies working in the technology space. Small tidbit: did you know that the City of Alpharetta alone is home to more than 640 technology companies now? As Deborah Lanham, VP of Business Development of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce pointed out, that is largely due to the fiber-optic network which is the most extensive and redundant in the Southeast. Along with several tax credits, grants, fee reductions, and other forms of financial assistance offered, it makes this area a great option for tech businesses big and small.
Some of the topics discussed at today’s meeting were:
- Where to locally network as a technology company and tech networking events coming up
- What to focus on when starting your business
- How to go about finding a new job while making a career change
- How blogging can help your business
- How to automate and support your business by getting the right back-end systems
Today’s takeaway: let’s not only network, but let’s be resourceful as well. Life doesn’t always hand us solutions to go with the challenges we encounter. Let’s help each other out with the business challenges we run into. Come join us at our next networking meeting. We will be looking forward to get your valuable input on the business challenges some of us are facing! And you will be surprised by how willing the members of this group are to help you out as well. See you at our next TechConnect networking meeting on June 12th!
We are looking forward to connect with you at our upcoming May 8th TechConnect networking meeting! If you already have been networking, you know how valuable it is to network with your tech peers in the thriving tech community in and around Alpharetta. A little background information before we share an experience of networking with Tech400: TechConnect is the monthly networking meeting of Tech400, the technology chapter of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GNFCC). It is held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at GNFCC’s offices, located at 11605 Haynes Bridge Road, Suite 100, in Alpharetta. The event is designed for technology companies and techies who find value in growing a network with industry peers. The format gives opportunity to make new friends, discuss and share your expertise, and highlight your business.
What is it like to network at TechConnect? First time attendees Michael K. Holland, Vice President of Business Development for Prism IT Corp and Jason Spight, Chief Information Officer at Ovalz, met each other at last month’s networking meeting. They connected again after TechConnect and saw potential in working together to offer Ovalz’s blockchain supply solution, BlockTrac, to local businesses. Ovalz is using Prism IT Corp’s expertise in IT Consulting to work on a readiness assessment for that.
Both companies are also exploring the feasibility of a jointly created Blockchain Solution Center, which would be the first in the Alpharetta area. At the center Ovalz will provide leadership for projects they identify, while Prism IT Corp will provide the workforce augmentation and secure site location.
As per Mr. Holland: “Having just joined Prism IT Corp as the VP of Business Development less than 2 weeks prior to this meeting, I was researching local networking events that would potentially tap into the 400 plus technology companies that call Alpharetta home. I found the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s TechConnect meeting and decided to attend. The opportunity to meet Jason and the partnership we are in the process of creating, I feel is an incredible home run – not just for Prism IT, but for both of our companies. I want to personally thank the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for realizing the need for more technology-based events in the Alpharetta area that are specifically focused for the leadership, stakeholders, and executives of the technology companies surrounding the Alpharetta area, and especially Ralph Pasquariello for heading the event, as well as both TechConnect & Tech400.”
Let’s connect this Tuesday! To register go to https://cm.gnfcc.com/events/details/techconnect-05-08-2018-8488. We can’t wait to network with you and hear your story!
